Balanced Basics

Blending bland basics can yield beneficial balance on boring days.

Not every day in the office requires a bold look. Some days are more banal – for those days blend blacks with Burberry to dress up or down a basic Boss sheath dress.

For winter days I love having a scarf wrapped tightly around my neck all day – something about keeping my throat warm and cozy makes the day more comfortable. My favorite scarf that provides that type of wrap is Burberry (how basic, I know). But, it wraps so well and stays in place all day. The lighter weight fabric provides just enough warmth to wear indoors all day, and because it’s in the classic pattern it isn’t too loud for the office. To keep my hair back and out of the way of the scarf I’ve loosely pinned it half up.

For a more formal basic look- I’ve paired my favorite black sheath dress (by Hugo Boss) with a blazer that has been in my wardrobe for a very long time with a pair of heels. To dress down the same dress and scarf I swapped out the blazer for a black sweater and flats.

Balance your black basics with Burberry for a business blend.

All my best,
