Matching (My Alma Mater) in Maroon

After a bye week, we’re gearing up for another big match – A&M v. Bama, and in support I’m matching my team in maroon.

Yes, I went to Texas A&MFightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2010, though I graduated in ’08, and am what is referred to as a 2 percenter…. aka I went greek and preferred to tailgate outside the game watching from TVs and couches in the shade, instead of standing the entire game in the heat. I love A&M; being from Texas and a HS cheerleader I adored football season. There is a reason Kyle Field is ranked by Sports Illustrated as the #1 place to watch a college football game! Though once you start working, and move across the country – keeping up with your team becomes a much lower priority…

I actually purchased this blazer from Bop (the physical store front in Madison, WI that owns Shop Bop) in preparation for heading home to attend a game in 2013 – I hadn’t gotten to go to a game since leaving A&M, and had purged my wardrobe of all the college’esque attire options. For gameday I paired it with maroon jeans and a blouse.

But for the office, I wear it over a classic sheath dress with some dress boots (you can also pair it with flats if your day is more casual).  It’s a lighter weight fabric (which is great for fall in Texas), and offers a unique zero collar cut with a leather trim detail which is different from any of my other blazers.

When you need to show your school spirit, but can’t be too casual, find basics in your alma mater’s colors, and you’ll match with mastery.

Gig ’em,
