Being professionally polished isn’t always exciting, but knowing you have wardrobe staples you can count on when you need to look your most groomed and put together is important.
When I need to look well groomed but reserved (ex: meeting a new client for the first time, major presentations, etc.) I opt for the classics and let my good basics make a polished statement.
I found this all grey suit in 2012 when I transitioned from software consulting into traditional management consulting in O&G (aka from a world of color and candor, into black and white formality). Here I’m wearing the suit together, but it works great as separates too – the dress is the grey version of my black sheath dress that finally wore out – I wear the grey a bit less than black, but it too has had repairs to prolong its life expectancy.
My scarf is the same from the last post, just tied differently. I love how wearing scarves instantly changes an outfit, while pulling it all together – they give a limited wardrobe some additional mileage and intrigue.
Find good classic basics and you’ll always be professionally polished.
All my best,

Sometimes we stun, sometimes we’re sleep deprived – but no matter what the day brings we have to be savvy; and self-care helps! Sitting in my hotel after 38 hours with no sleep – took a red eye in to my client last night, and went right to work and have been working...
Get to go out after work to a gallery or girls’ night? Get glam! Sometimes there’s fun plans post work – but you don’t have time to go home to change. Grab a fun top that doesn’t wrinkle and swap out your earrings. Pairing a classic black pencil skirt and your heels...
Lounging in lobby’s isn’t a luxury, but rather likely for consultants. Late nights working with team members, early mornings prepping for the day’s presentations, the list goes on. The number of hours I’ve spent in hotel lobbies is large! While not all lobbies are as...
