Ready for the Reign

Always be prepared – whether you need to reign with clients, take the reins on your career trajectory, or just run through the rain.

Readying your wardrobe for weather (winter is coming… ok, just fall right now – but GOT fan over here) is a necessity for ensuring you are able to remain polished regardless of the climate.

Finding professional outerwear is an important part of completing your corporate wardrobe, and the raincoat is one staple that really helps span multiple seasons.

This trench is actually the second rain coat I have bought – my first was several years earlier in 2015, and longer and in black – you can read that story here. I found it at The Little Bird in Houston last summer (’18) – I had just landed a new Chicago client, and knew I’d want a lighter summer rain coat for their variable weather, and the travel in between – I prefer to travel with some form of outer wear as you never know how cold the plane / airport will be, and they just pull outfits together for a more composed look despite potentially casual pieces.

When I found it – I knew I was going to buy it before I even looked at the price. My favorite style, in a shorter length than my current coat offered all the things I loved about my black version with enough differences to justify having two – especially love the camel embossed leather details for an elevated basic look.

Even better than the price since it was on resale, was the fact that it still had its original tags attached – it had never been worn! So it came home with me, along with a few other great basics that I adore and I wear it all the time.

And now that my current reign is coming to a close (today is the last day with my Chicago client), this raincoat certainly ruled. And *hint* I have a feeling it’s going to be very necessary in my next client location… Any guesses where I’m off to next in a few weeks? Though I’m looking forward to a few weeks of travel downtime!

Wrap up in a rain coat, and you’ll be ready for whatever reign is next.

All my best,
