Suitable Snuggie

Seeking something soft yet suitable for the office this season?

I call this cape my work appropriate snuggie (I’d never actually wear a Snuggie to the office – or ever – though I have seen some people do so). I love how it provides much needed comfort on more casual days while still coming across as composed. It is super warm – perfect for cooler days where you don’t want to have to wear a full coat. The large collar and edge detail keeps it from looking too casual and when paired with a classic black sheath dress and other work basics it creates a suitable outfit for days when you don’t need to be as formal.

Side fact | I love blankets and can easily spend a whole day in a robe. As a kid I’d play dress up and turn blankets into clothing. So, there has always been something about finding clothing that grants that same feeling while still looking professional – it’s very hard to replicate in work clothing!

I found the cape on resale when in Denver many years ago for a friend’s wedding – I was there with my mom and we had several days to explore, so in addition to a trip up to Estes Park, and Boulder we also shopped.

My dress is another wardrobe basic – a black sheath dress with a fair bit of stretch and deep front pockets. I don’t wear it often as it shrunk at the dry cleaners and on its own is shorter than I typically prefer. Also, the fabric is more cotton than wool and as a result it is more casual. But when worn with a long cape it creates a polished ensemble. While I opted for a dress shoe here, I’ve also worn this outfit many times with a knee-high dress boot which also works well.

Search for a suitable snuggie to augment your wardrobe for those days you wish you could just wear a blanket or robe to the office.

All my best,
