Thoughtful and Thankful
Turkey and tailoring don’t typically go well together, so in order to thoughtfully give thanks this consultant will be taking a few days off.
After submitting final client deliverables yesterday AM I’m officially through with current commitments – what an awesome feeling! The last two months have been really tough – two large scale engagements with a fair bit of ad hoc advisory support interwoven, coupled with constant business development, a nasty cold, and a run in with a soccer ball (it exploded in my face when I tried to inflate it last Tuesday) – I’m thoroughly tired.
After over twenty months of tireless tasks working to transition my trajectory (check out this post for details), I am very thankful for the time off, and looking forward to treating myself with an empty to-do list. I’m placing a temporary moratorium on screen time and focusing on being outside (ski season started this past weekend!), playing with River (my black lab – he turns 3.5 on Thursday!), cooking, practicing the piano, and reading.
While not in the ‘office’ today, I like these colors for a work appropriate Thanksgiving week outfit. My dress is my favorite navy dress that is part of my full navy suit. The jacket I found last fall on sale at Nordstrom in Chicago. I love its fitted features, and the depth of its color. I paired it with the new pair of navy heels I picked up this summer. If it’s cold, I can throw on a trench coat to complete the look.
Though this time year is about being thankful – family gatherings, holidays, and memories often throw up a lot of turmoil and trauma. Transition your negative thoughts by thinking through all you have to be thankful for – there really is nothing better to temper those tensions.
So raise a toast to all that you are thankful for this Thanksgiving.
All my best,
